Mysterious Sighting in the Sky Over Powell, Tennessee

On February 3, 2025, at 7:50 PM local time, a couple in Powell, a small town in Tennessee, witnessed an unusual celestial phenomenon that defies conventional explanation. According to their report submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) the same day at 5:27 PM Pacific Time, bright blue lights streaked across the sky for about 15 minutes, leaving the observers baffled.

It all began as the couple enjoyed a barbecue evening, made possible by milder weather. “My wife and I were grilling when we looked up at what we thought was a plane or a satellite,” the man recounts in his statement. But what they saw was far from ordinary: a brilliant blue light, appearing to wobble or zigzag through the sky at an altitude comparable to that of a very high-flying plane—or perhaps even higher.

The phenomenon didn’t stop at a single sighting. “It moved for about 10 seconds before burning out,” the witness explains. After this first occurrence, eight more similar lights appeared within five minutes, all displaying the same behavior: erratic movement, a vivid blue glow, and then a sudden disappearance. Intrigued, the man continued watching the sky for another 45 minutes, but nothing further appeared.

The couple insists that these luminous objects were unlike anything they had ever seen. “They weren’t meteors,” the witness asserts. Unlike shooting stars, which follow a straight, rapid path, these lights seemed to “wobble or zig-zag” before fading out. Their estimated altitude—matching that of a plane or higher—and their speed, akin to that of a craft at great height, only deepen the mystery.

The reported angle of elevation, 62 degrees, suggests the objects were clearly visible in the sky, though their exact size and distance remain unknown. The couple, the only witnesses according to the report, could only speculate about the nature of these blue lights.
