Residents in the Napanoch area reported an unusual sighting on the evening of March 22, 2022. The sighting, detailed in a testimony submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), described a low-hovering craft that displayed erratic behavior and was unlike any conventional aircraft.
According to the testimony, at approximately 8:15 PM, the witness was driving when they noticed a craft flying at an alarmingly low altitude, estimated between 100-200 feet above the ground. Initially appearing as a cross from a distance, the craft moved at a snail's pace over a construction site where land was being cleared and leveled. The craft then abruptly halted its movement, hovering stationary for about two minutes before resuming a linear up and down movement over the construction site, all without making a sound.
To add to the intrigue, as the witness drove away, the mysterious craft trailed their car slowly for approximately 20 seconds. Without making any turn, it then darted off in the opposite direction at breathtaking speeds.
Upon closer observation, the shape of the craft was described as resembling a diamond, with what appeared to be either a tail or nose. It sported a combination of blue, red, and intensely bright white strobing lights which, according to the witness, were "difficult to look at" and unlike any aircraft lights they had previously encountered.
Key observations highlighted by the witness included:
- Complete absence of sound.
- Unusual strobing light patterns.
- Initially cross-like appearance that revealed a barely visible diamond-shaped wing structure upon closer observation.
- Ability to hover motionless.
- Remarkable variability in speed, ranging from a walking pace to incredibly fast speeds.
- Peculiar behavior of following the car in one direction, then speeding off in the opposite direction without turning.
As of now, there are no confirmations about what the craft could have been, and no official statements have been made by local authorities. Residents and experts alike are left puzzled, further fueling the intrigue and speculation surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena in our skies.
