On May 29, 1896, several sea monsters were sighted in the Cook Strait, Tasman Sea, New Zealand.
That day, Tregurtha, the keeper of a lighthouse saw with his own eyes a multitude of sea monsters. These creatures were about three miles away.
Three of these monsters rose their heads 15 to 20 feet out of the water. Their necks were much smaller than their heads and they were grayish white in color.
Another huge shark-like monster with fins on the back of its head was also seen by Tregurtha and another man named Butler.
