Mysterious Giant Craters in Russia

Something very, very unusual is happening in Russia's Yamal Peninsula. It's straight out of a sci-fi movie

Imagine a number of perfectly round holes that look like meteorite craters. One of such craters is 60 meters deep and its diameter is 30 meters. When it was first spotted in 2014, people suggested very different explanations, ranging from underground UFO bases to the spots hit by stray missiles. Some even linked the craters with the Bermuda Triangle.

However, the scientific version, elaborated after expeditions, is not that fantastic. The "craters" were formed when warm underground gases ascended, melting the soil of hillocks above. Scientists have located four "craters" and hope to discover more than 30 of them altogether.
